Fanlistings

According to TheFanlistings.org:

"A Fanlisting is an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. "

Acoustic Guitars

An acoustic guitar is a guitar that uses only acoustic methods to project the sound produced by its strings. The term is a retronym, coined after the advent of electric guitars, which rely on electronic amplification to make their sound audible.

Historical and modern acoustic guitars are extremely varied in their design and construction, far more so than electric guitars. To casual observers, the classical (nylon-stringed), steel-stringed, and lap steel are perhaps the most widely-known and easily recognised acoustic guitars.

For more information on acoustic guitars, see the relevant Wikipedia article.

"Nostrum"

"Nostrum" is the only fanlisting for acoustic guitars approved by The Fanlistings Network, where it is listed under the "Music Miscellany" category. It was created by Emma and most recently owned by the fantastic Kate, who graciously let me, a lifelong guitar junkie, adopt the fanlisting in November 2010. "Nostrum," the title, is defined as "(a) hypothetical remedy for all ills or diseases," whose effectiveness is questioned by some, supported by others. One of my favourite guitar-related quotes has always been "any problem you can't solve with a good guitar is either unsolvable or isn't a problem," and, following the logic of said quote, a guitar can act as a panacea, a sort of cure-all -- a nostrum.

Technical details: the fanlisting portions of the site are powered by a fairly modified Listing Admin. Both its XHTML and CSS are valid.
